Great expectations»
All I want from some people is a nod.
Just a plain, expressionless nod.
From others I want an occasional smile.
No verbal hello, just a brief,
virtually pointless smile.
That gets across everything we’ll ever need to communicate.
And then, for everybody else it goes up a step
to a hi or a hello.
We both say hi, maybe with
a little lift of the eyebrows.
And that’s everything.
